Elder Dr. Craig N.
Mathies, Sr.

Elder Dr. Craig N. Mathies, Sr. is now in his 19th year of pastoral service for the Lord at Zion. His assignment is to help "God's" people, with spiritual enlightenment and the knowledge of or our Lord and savior "Jesus Christ."
​
Pastor Mathies is married to Elder Clarice B. J. Mathies, they have been married for forty-two years. They have two children, Erica L. Jackson and Craig N. Mathies, Jr., and three grandchildren Endea, Elysse, and Jaden Small.
​
Pastor Mathies is a graduate of Crisfield High School, attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, majoring in business management. He also has an Associate Degree from the Christian World College of Theology, Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Norfolk Theological Seminary, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, Doctor of Ministry in Preaching degree from Chicago Theological Seminary. Elder Mathies was in the automobile profession for over 20 years, where he started in sales, becoming the first black Business manager on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He is striving to do his best now to promote the Gospel of "Jesus Christ"!!!
Elder Mathies past-Moderator of the Progressive Baptist Association of the Eastern Shore. He is a community leader being the 1st Elected African American County Commissioner in the history of Somerset County Maryland, now serving as President; Board of Directors Choptank Electric; Shore-Up Inc. Board Director-Vice President; Board of Directors Local Management Board, Somerset Co; NAACP Somerset Co.

Pastor Mathies is striving to "Help prepare a people to be ready for the coming of the Lord!!!!
